Brett Favre Just Cost EA Sports $60

You know, I've officially had it with the "Brett Favre Saga" as the esteemed sports media is calling it. I have had the utmost respect for Favre. Being a Cleveland fan, you tend to look for someone else to root for as well, and I admit, I have had a secret love of the Packers, and Favre was part of the reason. One of the toughest positions to play on the field is QB, and Favre was one of the best. That's why when he finally announced his retirement earlier this year, I was sad to see him go, but happy he made the right decision for himself and the team that made him a household name.

Fast forward to now. Favre has been reinstated by Commissioner Roger Goodell, one of the worst decisions he has made thus far. Favre had no interest in staying in Green Bay. Not only that, but he wanted to be traded in the division. And because he was not getting what he wanted, he caused more trouble than Brittney Spears on a comeback tour. What Favre did is unfair, not only to Aaron Rodgers, the guy who's been waiting on the sidelines waiting for his chance, but also to the fans who have practically worshipped him in Green Bay. Do you have any idea how many kids in Wisconsin have #4 jerseys?

Bottom line here, Favre is a selfish, disrespectful jackass. If he wanted to play so bad, then he should not have retired in the first place. He should have had more respect for the Packers and the history of the franchise, because like it or not, he will be the face of that franchise long after he overstays his welcome in the NFL and becomes just another washed-up has been. He should be ashamed of the way he treated his fans in Green Bay, who stood by him even when the team was not great.

It's a shame that Favre will be a member of the New York Jets. It's a shame that Aaron Rodgers is being put "on-the-map" by this crap instead of his work on the field. And it's a shame Favre's best years are behind him, and he does not realize it.

And it's because of all this that I can't justify plopping down $60 of my hard earned money to have Favre staring at me from the cover of Madden 09. Oh and Brett, I hope the guys at EA Sports told you about the curse.

Are you kidding? He probably made them money. It's a classic now? Plus, they can sell the Jets version and make more dough.

The situation does make me want to vomit in a bag though. I'm glad it's over.

Well, all the sheep who follow the EA Sports pied pipers are more than welcome to waste $60-$90 on two copies of the game with Favre in two different jerseys. I'll just wait for Lackluster Video to get a copy and save $50.

Long live the Madden Curse!

Thanks for stopping by lady & gentleman!
